Floor & Kitchen Operations

Configure KDS Stations, Timers, and Ticket Statuses

Give each production area a focused queue and a consistent Preparing-to-Ready workflow.

10 minBest for: Kitchen leads and expeditors

Step 1

Verified starting point

Open Staff → Kitchen stations, select the branch, and Add station with categories or specific items. Then choose Open Kitchen Display in the dashboard header.

  • The live screen requires a four-digit kitchen PIN
  • Station routing and staff authentication are separate setup steps

Step 2

Create the kitchen stations

Go to Staff → Kitchen Stations, select the branch, and choose Add station. Name the operational area—such as Grill or Drinks—and assign the categories or items it prepares. Keep an expo or whole-order view where one role needs complete handoff visibility.

  • Resolve items prepared by more than one station before launch
  • Use station names that the kitchen already uses

Step 3

Open and authenticate the live screen

Open the branch Runner/KDS route at Open Kitchen Display from the dashboard header, on the kitchen device. Sign in with an authorized kitchen staff PIN and enable the browser's audio/notification permission if the branch relies on alerts.

  • Keep the device powered and its branch URL documented
  • Do not share a manager password on a kitchen screen

Step 4

Test status and item ownership

Submit a mixed test order. Confirm the assigned station sees its items, starts preparation, and marks them Ready while the complete order remains visible to the agreed handoff role. Test additions, cancellations, a late component, reconnect, and the documented outage fallback.

  • Timers surface delay; they do not replace realistic prep targets
  • Agree who owns the final Ready / Handoff decision

Common questions

Why does a station not see an item?

Open Kitchen Stations and confirm that the item's category or the item itself is assigned to that station and that the screen is using the correct branch/station scope.
