Step 1
Verified starting point
Open Menu and use an item action to Mark sold out or Mark Available. To change one choice only, edit the item and use the option Available control in Modifier Groups.
- Sold-out items are disabled on the tablet menu
- Restore availability from the same item actions
Step 2
Mark an item sold out
Go to Menu, find the item, open its actions, and select Mark sold out. DashDine stores that availability on the shared menu record, so active QR, online, table-tablet, kiosk, waiter, and POS experiences stop offering it according to their live refresh behavior.
- Use sold out for a temporary 86, not deletion
- Confirm the success message before leaving the page
Step 3
Disable only one modifier option
When the base item remains available, edit the item and open Modifier Groups. Toggle only the unavailable option off—for example, one sauce or size—then save. This avoids hiding the entire product.
- Check required groups still have at least one valid choice
- Use an option name the kitchen and guest both recognize
Step 4
Verify and restore availability
Open one customer channel and one staff channel and confirm the change. When stock returns, use the item action to mark it available again or re-enable the modifier option, then repeat the check.
- Refresh fixed devices if an old screen remains open
- Include sold-out review in opening and shift-handoff checks
