Initial System Setup & Menu Building

Import a Menu from PDF or Images

Turn a PDF of up to 50 pages or clear menu photos into an editable catalog, then review it safely.

8 minBest for: Owners and menu managers

Step 1

Verified starting point

Select the branch in the dashboard header, open Menu, then select Import from photo / PDF. The dialog title is Build your menu with AI.

  • Accepted: JPEG, PNG, WebP, and PDF
  • Up to 8 files; PDFs up to 50 pages
  • Read with AI stays disabled until a file is selected

Step 2

Open the AI importer

Sign in as an owner or manager and go to Menu. Select Import from photo / PDF to open Build your menu with AI. Drag in a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or PDF. PDFs may contain up to 50 pages; split anything larger before upload.

  • Nothing is added to the live menu at upload time
  • Check the page count and the displayed AI cost estimate before continuing

Step 3

Read and review the draft

Select Read with AI, or Start AI import after confirming the estimate for a multi-page document. Wait for every page group to finish. Review the extracted categories, item names, descriptions, prices, and modifier suggestions. Edit incorrect values and resolve any merge conflicts shown by the importer.

  • Retry a failed page group instead of importing an incomplete document
  • Compare prices against the source page before approval

Step 4

Import the approved items

Select Import items only after the review is complete. Return to Menu Management and open several imported items to confirm their category, price, description, and availability. The importer creates editable menu records; it does not publish unreviewed OCR output automatically.

  • Check English and Arabic content in Localization after import
  • Test one item in the customer storefront before announcing the menu

Common questions

Does uploading a file change the live menu immediately?

No. DashDine creates a review draft. Menu records are written only when you select Import items.
