Floor & Kitchen Operations

Use the Waiter App with Personal Staff PINs

Take table orders on shared floor tablets while preserving fast sign-in and staff accountability.

9 minBest for: Floor managers and waiters

Step 1

Verified starting point

Open Staff, choose the branch, then Add Staff Member. After creating a personal four-digit PIN, use Open Service Board in the dashboard header.

  • The login screen is Service Login
  • PINs are unique within the selected branch
  • Do not use an example PIN from documentation

Step 2

Create a personal floor staff record

Go to Staff, select the branch, and choose Add Staff Member. Enter the person's name, choose the Waiter role, and set a unique four-digit PIN or use Generate PIN. Save the record and copy the PIN when it is shown.

  • Create one record per person; never use a shared team PIN
  • Give the PIN only to the staff member who owns it

Step 3

Open the branch staff screen

On the floor tablet, open Open Service Board from the dashboard header and sign in with the staff member's PIN. Use the quick-order / waiter ordering control available to that role, select the correct table, add structured modifiers and notes, and submit the order.

  • Pin the supported branch URL to the tablet home screen
  • Confirm the staff member cannot open owner-only settings

Step 4

Verify accountability and revoke access

Place one test table order and confirm the table, staff identity, items, and notes reach the live kitchen queue. When a person leaves or a PIN is exposed, disable or replace that staff record immediately; do not recycle the PIN casually.

  • Review order attribution during the pilot
  • Keep a staff-assisted fallback for device or network failure

Common questions

Should managers use waiter PINs for admin work?

No. PINs support fast floor and operational access. Managers use named email/password accounts for broader administrative responsibilities.
