Record a Payment and Close an Order

Record cash or card at the counter or the table, and close orders without mixing up serving and paying.

4 minBest for: Cashiers, waiters and branch managers

Step 1

At the counter POS

When you place an order, choose how the guest pays: Cash or Card terminal. Then choose the payment state: Fully paid, Partially paid or Unpaid / due.

  • Card payments are taken on your own card machine; the POS records them
  • Use Unpaid / due when the guest pays later

Step 2

At the table with the waiter app

Open the order in DashDine Go. You see the amount due. Tap Mark payment collected when the guest has paid, or Collect & close to record the payment and close the order in one step.

  • Collect & close asks you to confirm first
  • The amount due shows on every open order

Step 3

When a QR payment is still open

If the guest started paying by QR, wait for it to finish. If they would rather pay cash or card, use Collect & close. It cancels the open QR payment and records the cash or card payment.

  • A failed QR payment never marks the order paid

Common questions

Does finishing or serving an order mark it paid?

No. Cooking, serving and paying are separate. An order is paid only when a payment is recorded or confirmed.

Where do I see unpaid orders?

Open orders show their amount due in the POS, the waiter app and DashDine Live.
