Step 1
Verified starting point
Open Menu → item actions → Edit Item → Modifier Groups. Select Add Group, name it, choose Single or Multiple, and set Optional or Required.
- Each option has a price adjustment and Available control
- Current upsells are structured choices, not an automatic recommendation engine
Step 2
Choose the item and add-on
Go to Menu, open the base item, and find Modifier Groups. Select Add Modifier Group, name the guest-facing choice, and add each option with its price adjustment. DashDine currently presents these structured choices in the item flow; do not document an unsupported automatic recommendation algorithm.
- Offer add-ons that are genuinely compatible with the item
- Use a clear option name and the real incremental price
Step 3
Set optional or required rules
Set the minimum to zero for an optional add-on. Use a minimum of one only when production requires the guest to choose, such as size or cooking level. Set a maximum that prevents contradictory or excessive choices, then save the item.
- Do not disguise a required charge as an optional upsell
- Mark unavailable options unavailable instead of leaving them selectable
Step 4
Test the guest and kitchen result
Open the item on the customer storefront, select and remove options, and confirm the price changes immediately. Complete a test order and verify the chosen option appears clearly on the kitchen ticket.
- Repeat in English and Arabic
- Review option sales and guest feedback before adding more prompts
